AlgoTest vs QuantPower

This AlgoTest vs QuantPower comparison is for Indian options traders who want to backtest strategies, test them forward and run them live. The two differ most in how you pay: AlgoTest sells credits that you spend per backtest and per strategy, while QuantPower has fixed monthly plans.

Evaluate QuantPower

  • Allowances. The Standard plan is free during the Beta; see pricing for each plan's daily allowances.
  • A stop loss on the whole position. The MTM stop loss exits when the combined profit or loss of your positions reaches your limit.
  • Trading tools in one place. The advanced option chain, live trading terminal, multiple charts and iceberg orders sit in the same platform.

Evaluate AlgoTest

  • Credit accounting. Evaluate the credits required for your actual strategy and test frequency; no cost ranking is established here.
  • Free backtests. 25 free backtests a week let you test ideas at no cost.
  • Backtesting focus. Backtesting options strategies on past data is at the centre of the product, with forward testing as the next step.
  • More brokers. Its setup guides cover more than 20 Indian brokers.
Key point
AlgoTest suits traders who backtest heavily or run a handful of strategies and want to pay only for what they use. QuantPower suits traders who run many strategies and want one monthly price that covers algo bots, backtesting, signal trading and a stop loss on combined positions.

How AlgoTest pricing works

AlgoTest sells credit packs. The smallest pack works out at about ₹1 a credit, and larger packs give more credits for each rupee. You then spend credits on each product:

ProductCredits
100 backtests100, with no expiry
Unlimited backtestsA 7-day pass, or a monthly pass of about 1,500
One strategy live100 per 28-day cycle
One strategy in forward testing50 per 28-day cycle
Signals planA separate 28-day plan, with live trades and forward tests of signals included

Every account also gets 25 free backtests each week, which is enough to try a few ideas before you buy credits. Check the current credit price of each pass on AlgoTest's pricing page before you buy.

How QuantPower pricing works

QuantPower prices exclude GST. Yearly billing is also offered, and there is a free trial. The QuantPower Standard plan is free during the Beta (₹299/month after); Professional is ₹499/month and Ultimate ₹999/month, GST extra. See pricing.

Cost for the same use

These estimates value AlgoTest credits at the Starter rate of about ₹1 each, for one month of use.

A cost ranking needs confirmed current prices and matched strategy/test allowances. QuantPower's Standard plan is free during the Beta, so compare it with AlgoTest's free allowance first, then the paid plans for your strategy count. Compare taxes on the same basis.

Neither column includes brokerage. The Standard plan is free during the Beta; see pricing for each plan's daily allowances.

Forward testing and paper trading

Both platforms let you watch a strategy on live prices before real money is involved. AlgoTest calls this forward testing and charges 50 credits per strategy per 28-day cycle. QuantPower calls it Forward test (paper trading): live prices with no real money. Simulated fills are not proof of live execution.

Whatever you call it, this step catches problems a backtest cannot, such as wide spreads at your chosen strikes or rules that fire at the wrong time of day. The backtesting vs forward testing guide explains what each kind of test can and cannot tell you.

How QuantPower places automated orders

QuantPower is trading software. It is not a broker or an adviser, and it gives no tips or calls. Every strategy is your own set of rules, fully visible to you.

Orders go from your own broker account through the broker's official API, using your own API key, from a static IP registered with your broker. They begin only after your daily broker login with two-factor authentication. Self-built strategies stay within SEBI's order-rate limit for them, fewer than 10 orders a second, and your funds and securities stay with your broker.

Moving a strategy from AlgoTest

  1. Note the setup. Legs, strikes, entry and exit times, stop losses and targets.
  2. Connect your broker with your own API key and a static IP registered with it.
  3. Rebuild the strategy in the strategy builder.
  4. Backtest it and compare the results with AlgoTest's.
  5. Paper trade it for a few weeks on live prices.
  6. Stop the AlgoTest deployment before going live on QuantPower, so the strategy does not trade twice.
