How to connect IIFL
- Create an API app. Sign in to the IIFL Capital developer portal (developers.iiflcapital.com) as an individual trader with your IIFL login, open My Apps and choose Create App.
- Enter your primary static IP in the app form, with the redirect URL shown in QuantPower's broker settings, and note the app key and secret the portal gives you. The IP must match the public address your orders leave from.
- Add the app in QuantPower. Open broker settings, choose IIFL and enter your app key and secret.
- Log in on IIFL's page with your client ID, password and the two-factor code IIFL asks for.
- Check the connection. Your funds, holdings and positions should appear in QuantPower.
- Test before you go live. Run a new strategy in paper trading first, then deploy it on your account with a small size.
IIFL API rules under SEBI's framework
SEBI's framework for retail algo trading has applied to every broker since 1 April 2026, and it sets the terms for IIFL algo trading as for any other broker.
| Rule | What it means on IIFL |
|---|---|
| Your own API app | A unique app key and secret you create; access without a key is not allowed |
| Registered static IP | Orders must come from the primary static IP entered for your app |
| Changing the IP | Possible, but brokers limit how often, usually to once a week |
| Daily login | API sessions end before the next trading day, and you log in again with two-factor authentication |
| Order rate | Fewer than 10 orders a second; faster algos must be registered with the exchange through the broker |
| Kill switch | IIFL can stop algo orders on your account at once, as the framework requires of every broker |
The static IP is the fixed public address of the computer or VPS that sends your orders. QuantPower runs on your own computer or VPS, so your API key stays with you and orders go to IIFL's API from the static IP you register with IIFL. Keep that computer or VPS secure, and keep it on and logged in to IIFL during market hours while your bots run.
QuantPower is trading software. It is not a stockbroker or a SEBI-registered investment adviser or research analyst, and it gives no tips, calls or buy and sell advice. With IIFL, the strategies it runs are your own rules, fully visible to you, and IIFL checks every order for price, quantity, margin and order rate before it reaches the exchange. Ready-made strategy templates, such as straddles and iron flies, load into the strategy builder; you edit and run them as your own strategy.
What QuantPower can and cannot do

| Exit positions when your MTM stop loss is hit | See the password or code you type on IIFL's page |
| Read live prices for your strategies | Trade after your session has ended |

| Item | IIFL |

Every trading day
- Before 9:15 am: log in to IIFL from QuantPower. Strategies scheduled before you log in will not trade.
- Before each entry: check free margin. Option buyers pay the full premium upfront, and sellers need SPAN and exposure margin.
- On expiry day: short index options expiring that day need an extra 2% exposure margin.
- After the close: the session ends, and the next trading day starts with a fresh login.
Things to know about IIFL
- The new name. IIFL Securities Ltd is now IIFL Capital Services Ltd. The developer portal uses the IIFL Capital name, and older guides and API pages may still say IIFL Securities.
- Check the outgoing IP. The primary static IP must match the address your orders actually leave from. A VPN, a proxy or a new router address breaks the match, and orders are blocked.
- Stop losses in options. NSE does not accept SL-M orders in options. Build options strategies with limit and stop-loss limit orders, with a buffer between trigger and limit.
- Multi-leg strategies. A short straddle sends two orders at entry and an iron condor four. Space the legs so your account never sends 10 or more orders in a second.

Frequently asked questions
Does QuantPower see my IIFL password?
No. You type your password and two-factor code on IIFL's own page. QuantPower receives and stores only an access token for the day's session.
Do I need a static IP for IIFL algo trading?
Yes. Orders through IIFL's API must come from the primary static IP registered for your app, as SEBI's framework requires at every broker.
Is the IIFL Capital API free?
Yes. IIFL offers its Trading APIs to account holders at no additional cost. You pay brokerage under your IIFL plan, and statutory charges.
Is IIFL Capital the same as IIFL Securities?
Yes. IIFL Securities Ltd changed its name to IIFL Capital Services Ltd. The broker, and your account with it, are the same.
What if the IIFL login fails?
Check that your phone's clock is on automatic time for two-factor codes, and that pop-ups are allowed for quantpower.tech. If the login works but orders fail, check that they come from your registered static IP.
Can I trade options through the IIFL API?
Yes, once F&O is enabled on your IIFL account. Options strategies need limit and stop-loss limit orders, because SL-M orders are not accepted in options on NSE.
